I am caught up

I am sorry that I did not have this updated often. I have had computer issues and a busy time in my life. I will try to keep it caught up better.

letter 06-02-09

Ya if you think its amazing its already June think of how i feel!:) if seems like just yesterday i was talking to you and that was almost a month ago. here's another crazy thing since its June we don't have to wear suit jackets anymore until September 1st and summer last year went by way fast for me and so I'm thinking it will again and then when i do have to put my jacket back on i will only have 3-4 months left of my mission!! Ahhh that's so scary to think. but oh well ill just make the best of what i have and not look back.
So first things first ill tell you about transfers. I'm staying in brooks for another 6 weeks and I'm getting a missionary named elder Brimhall and I'm also becoming the district leader again so that's pretty cool. now everyone that i came out with is in leadership again and one of the guys i got really close to in the MTC and out here, elder Wagstaff, is the new assistant to the president and since we are getting a new mission president he will most likely finish his mission off as an AP. so there you go that's transfer news and I'm thinking that this might be my very first 6 month area because the new mission president will be here by next transfer and its my guess but i don't think he will make a whole lot of changes but i could be wrong we will just have to wait and see.
Speaking of suits jackets and suits i got thinking about this and i know mom said something about this before i left but is my brown suit still in my closet? i really hope so because i really want to wear it when i get home since i didn't get to bring it on my mission.
I've got a few really sweet ties in the last week or two and my collection is still going strong. i just got a tie from a member that is brown fading to white and then back to brown and on top of that there are big green paisley's and circles on top and it almost makes it look like question marks and the name just makes this tie even more amazing but the member named it the Riddler. it is sweet you will see. so if by chance you see any sweet poly ties you know where to send them. oh and are the missionaries in the ward and in that area into ties like we are up here? i know in some missions they don't really care but in some like mine they are huge.
Well we have finally been having some nice weather and man am i tan now. we couldn't drive our car for a weeks straight because we had no KM 's so we had to walk everywhere and i got burned a little but man i am getting dark, well compared to what i was before:)
On Saturday we went to a car show here in brooks it was really awesome they had some amazing cars there. i took alot of pictures so you will be able to see them when i sent the card which will be happening soon.
Well i had better get going my comp still needs to pack and we have an appointment at 1 to get to. i love you tons and miss you both so so much. I'll talk to you next week.
Love Josh

Dear mom and dad
Holy cow ya i'll say great day!!!
well last Wednesday i got an email from Kayla Powell(my first convert) she was planning on going through the temple for her first time and taking her endowments out on the Saturday. cool huh? and then she goes on to say that she wants me to be there with her while she goes through for the first time. so i called president to see if i could and he said sure as long as we have a member take us. so i called a member and he said sure I'll take ya, i don't have anything going on during Saturday anyway. so Saturday morning came and lo and behold he pulls in front of our place in his black convertible 2008 ford mustang. oh my gosh it was amazing. the whole day was just crazy fun and the temple was amazing. the last time i went was a full year ago. it was amazing how much stuff i had forgotten. another awesome thing is my trainer Elder Jensen also got to go so i got to see him one last time before he goes home in 8 days and he also gave me some sweet ties of his. so there you go there was my amazing weekend. oh wait no i forgot one thing i got to speak in church this last weekend as well so it was just a spiritually boosting weekend that i don't think could have come at a better time. and i put a few names in before we left on Saturday as well. so ya that was about what happened this last week. not a lot else happened just regular missionary work. oh and i should tell you that next week is transfers so i will be emailing on Tuesday and will be telling you what is going to be happening for the next 6 weeks.
i had better get going but i sure do love you all and hope everything is going good and i will be talking to you in a few days.

Well this week has been kinda slowish. on Monday we had interviews with President Priday, Tuesday we were in Taber with some other missionaries so save on km, Wednesday we went all the way to fort McLeod for zone conference which is really close to pincher creek. so finally on Thursday we got back to our area and had 4 days to get 20 lessons for the week so we had our work cut out for us. Thursday was a bit of a sad day. we were told by the father of the family of 5 that they will no longer be taking the lessons from us and were very sad, but i don't think they were as sad as us. it really hurt to see someone be so close and so willing to learn and do things necessary to continue learning all of a sudden drop out from underneath you. so that kinda put a damper on my mood for the rest of the week but we still did good work but just not the same kind that i wanted to be. this week was a lot of walking around and handing out Book of Mormons instead of teaching lessons. and thats about what we had to do all day the rest of the week to get our 20 and we only made it to 18 but its ok.
I've actually been having a better week so far because I've been with elder Everett on exchanges since Monday after meetings. if you can't remember elder Everett came out with me and was in the same room as me in the MTC and he is now my zone leader and we have been having a blast these last two days. we have also been talking a lot about football and oh my gosh i can't wait to get home and get back in shape and start playing at SUU it will be amazing.

sounds like a lot of tings have been happening back home and for right now all i can really say is i love everyone of you and i will not stop praying. i really hope things start to turn around in some way or another for us all. i love you all and hope you have a wonderful week and i will talk to you next Wednesday.

Oh man I loved mothers day so much I couldn't stand it. it was so much fun to talk to everyone it was for sure the best phone calls i have had on my mission they were great.
I really don't know what to really write it seems like I told you most of what I wanted to and nothing exciting has happened in a day so... well I did have interviews and I got so caught up with talking to him about how concerned I am for the family of 5 that I didn't even bring up wanting to go back to DL but oh well if it happens it happens if not oh well I'm still a missionary right?
So last night we stayed with the missionaries from Taber and we stayed up till like 1 in the morning playing phase 10 and oh my gosh I don't think I have ever laughed so hard in my whole life it was great. but now I'm a little tired but good thing its pday today:)
There is one person I was going to tell you about that I forgot to on the phone but her name is Crazy Ray. she is a member down in medicine hat that we go see every time we have meetings and oh my gosh she is so funny, but the real reason we go is because she has a sort of gift and the closest thing I can describe to what she has is almost like fortune telling and being able to see into your future and tell you things about yourself that only you know. Its pretty crazy and at first I didn't believe that it was true but then she said something from my patriarchal blessing and she said it almost word for word. At that point I really believed it was kinda cool. She also tells us about our guardian angels and apparentlyIi have an older guy that she says looks something like a cowboy. When she said that i thought of grandpa mark and so I asked if a guardian angel could still be living and she said yes but it doesn't happen very often. So who knows but I thought it was cool. Oh and if all this is sounding really creepy don't worry she is one of the most spiritual people I have ever met and she is a convert and has a freaking amazing testimony. She just says that it is a gift that god gave her and if she abuses it god takes it away and soIi don't think its anything bad but if you ever come up here to tour my mission we have to go see Crazy Ray. Oh and if you call her anything other than Crazy Ray she will get mad at you. she is way funny.
well I think that's all I have for today but I'm sure I will have more stuff to write about next week so for now good bye and I love you and i loved being able to talk to you on mothers day it was awesome. IT was so hard to finally hang up the phone but hey just think next time you talk to me it will be in person and not over a phone. :) :)
i love you
josh
P.S. working hard with no regrets

OH MY GOSH I CAN'T BELIEVE I CAN TALK TO YOU IN 4 DAYS!!!! and because of that I'm not going to say to much today so we can have some things to talk about. I also have some exciting news for you but a member is going to let us use there phone so I can call back and finish talking to you as well as call Jordan Justin and Jeanne.
I got a little package from you today, don't know what is in it but i have it just so you know. I'm way excited to talk to you and you know what the cool thing is? this is probably going to be my last phone call of my mission:) how crazy will that be?!?

Hey there how are you? Wow is it good to write to everybody today. It seems like a while since I emailed last but it was only 8 days ago but anyways fist things first. I should tell you that I’m ok but I kind of had an accident :) Tuesday night we played basketball with the elder’s quorum and in between games we were just standing around and I had on one of my wrestling shirts and one of the members came up and started wrestling with me and I should add that he is about double my size. He throws me in a cowboy on the gym floor, which I wasn't very happy about in the first place, but when he flipped me, my leg came swinging around and my heel slammed off the gym floor really hard. It hurt the rest of the night but I didn't think anything about it until the next morning when I tried to get off my top bunk and when I landed on my foot I about cried it hurt so bad to put any pressure on it at all. So I called and talked to sister Priday and I then went to Wal-mart and bought some crutches and that’s how I got around for the whole week. Fun huh? But no need to worry I’m walking on it now it was just a very bad bone bruise. So that made the whole week a little bit slow since we couldn't really go street contacting or tracting but it was a fun week none the less.
I got a letter from Skye this week and the last one I sent to her I asked if she had any updates on friends on missions. She told me that Hayden Webb had just gotten home from his mission and he was actually serving in Budapest Hungary where Jordan Liljenquist is right now. Skye said that those two actually were comps for a little while and Hayden had some really cool news. Jorday is leading his mission in baptisms right now. How cool is that! A convert of only two years or so and he is already making the snowball effect a huge part in his life and in the lives of who knows how many now. It was way cool to hear about that and to just know that I was a friend who helped bring Jordan to the gospel and what an awesome experience that was for me. What a cool first convert, well kind of convert :) One of my favorite memories was when we went to Salt Lake for conference as a youth group. There were only a couple of tickets to go into the conference center and everyone else had to go to another place to watch. Jordan and I got to use those tickets and we sat down low right in front. It was awesome that here I was with Jordan who was not a member at the time and we were both so excited and felt the spirit so strong. This is something I will never forget.
I'm just letting you know that there has been a death in the family. And I'm so sorry you had to find out this way. One morning when I woke up I did my regular stuff like showering eating and getting ready and I opened the mirror to grab my razor and it had died :( it no longer works. It was a very sad morning but I have been doing ok but I could use a little extra help it has been a hard loss for me to go through. I got a replacement and he is doing well but I just wanted to let you know about the loss I was going through.
So today we are going with a member out to whats called dinosaur Provincial Park. I think there is a little bit of digging we can do while we are there so I will make sure to take pictures to send to you. It should be fun.
Well I wish I could say that the weather here is like it is there for you guys but I can't. It actually snowed on Monday for the whole day and it’s still kind of cold but oh well that's Canada weather for you. I think it might be hard to get used to the weather change when I get home. Its going to be funny cuz I’m going to be walking around in a very light jacket if that and everyone else will be thinking I’m nuts or something. It will be fun.
Well I had better get going so we can have time to go and do our pday stuff. I love you all and just would like to tell you that I am still praying for all of you. I love you all and hope to hear from you next week.
Love you
Elder Josh Pehrson
